RESUMO Renunciando em opor de maneira sistemática os sistemas religiosos, a autora se propõe aqui considerar as referências divididas por médiuns dos cultos de possessão e membros das igrejas pentecostais, e em particular a representação da relação entre homens e mulheres. A este respeito é notável que as mulheres compartilham a idéia da submissão feminina à autoridade masculina: umas constroem a personagem imaginária do caboclo que vai substituir o homem real, outras tentam modelar seu companheiro e incentivam-no a se tornar "pastor". Voltando-se para os homens homossexuais nos terreiros e comparando-os com os pastores pentecostais, pergunta-se então se, na construção de uma identidade masculina coerente, o homem não seria levado a um fracionamento (devendo optar pela "sexualidade" ou pela "responsabilidade") poupada a mulher em condição de combinar determinações diversas.
