Résumé

Prophetism and Pentecostalism in African francophone migrations. — African prophets do not belong, as one might think, to the past of the colonial situation or to a sense of nostalgia for political Independence. They still contribute to African modernity and reappear where they are least expected: within a religious space clearly identified as Pentecostal. From a fieldwork study conducted in the greater metropolitan area of Paris, in the context of Congolese and Ivorian immigrants, this article deals with some figures of Pentecostal prophets who, at the beginning of the 2000s, structured their visionary charism around the “re-evangelization of France”. It is thus a matter of questioning a certain topicality of African prophets and of reinvesting, in a transnational perspective, an old object of ethnology and Africanist sociology: the African churches on which Georges Balandier founded an important part of his analysis of the colonial situation.
