Spatial Analysis of Natural and Anthropogenic Factors Influencing Chimpanzee Repartition in Sebitoli (Kibale National Park, Uganda)

Using a combination of geographical data, spatial analysis is a precious tool in environmental sciences. Many process are underlying landscape, they are interacting together and having different impacts. We analyzed 4 years of data collected in a wild chimpanzee community using a multidisciplinary method in order to determine natural and human factors that influence chimpanzee repartition. It seem that chimpanzee density is high (4.4 individuals/km2) even if their home range is circumcised by anthropogenic elements. Chimpanzees are not avoiding forest edges in contact with human population and they are crossing the road passing through their home range.
