              <p>Icône de l’historiographie médiévale, Henry V clôt la seconde tétralogie des pièces historiques de Shakespeare en 1599, comme son antithèse Richard III, le roi bossu, avait refermé la première six ans plus tôt. Le cycle est clos, mais non le sens. En prenant le jeu de paume comme clé de la lecture, l'ouvrage explore les ricochets du sens entre chœur et action, 1415 et 1599, Angleterre, France et Irlande, masculin et féminin, Holinshed, Hall et Machiavel, qui font d’Henry V moins un exemple du théâtre d’histoire, qu’une pièce sur l’histoire et ses rapports avec le théâtre.</p>
