Vers une institutionnalisation de l'agriculture bio ? Étude de deux manifestations promotionnelles en Alsace

We consider organic farming as a " new social economic movement ". As such, it is crossed by several tensions pushing the movement to evolve. We make the hypothesis that an evolution is going on towards institutionnalization. We test this hypothesis by comparing two promotional events in Alsace : the Foire Eco-Bio d'Alsace, created in 1982 in a hostile environment to organic farming, and the Salon BiObernai, established in a more organic-favorable environment. We analyze this evolution through the prism of network contruction, as theorized by the sociology of networks of Callon and Latour. The hypothesis of institutionalization is partially confirmed. Through our research, a second hyothesis emerge, which refers to the theory of the generations. Indeed, the comparison between the two promotional events shows that the institutionnalization goes through a replacement of the generation that was in favour of radical organic farming by a generation that emphasizes the more consensual organic farming.
L'agriculture biologique en tant que nouveau mouvement social économique est parcourue par des tensions. Dans cet article nous posons l'hypothèse qu'elles font évoluer le mouvement vers l'institutionnalisation. Nous testons cette hypothèse en comparant deux événements promotionnels du bio en Alsace : la Foire Eco-Bio d'Alsace, créée en 1982 dans un contexte hostile au bio et le Salon BiObernai, créé en 2004 dans un contexte plus accueillant. Nous observons ces évolutions au travers du prisme de la construction des réseaux, tel qu'il est théorisé par la sociologie de la traduction. L'hypothèse de l'institutionnalisation est partiellement confirmée. La recherche fait par ailleurs émerger une seconde hypothèse, qui renvoie à la théorie des générations. En effet, les comparaisons font apparaître que les deux évolutions passent par un remplacement de la génération des acteurs favorables au bio radical, par une génération d'acteurs qui met en avant un bio plus consensuel.
