Este artigo apresenta uma contextualizaç~ao da emergência da categoria política de sofrimento social na França, destacando a transiç~ao da agenda dos debates nas últimas duas décadas, sobretudo a partir do primado da doutrina neoliberal de reforma do Estado. / This article presents the context of the arising of the political category of social suffering in France, highlighting the changes in the agenda of discussions over the past two decades, especially since the primacy of neoliberal doctrine of state reform.
