Résumé

- A secret filiation runs from those artists who used the medium of video in the 1960s, the first being Nam June Paik, to those who decided, in the early 1990s, to employ the digital language. To elaborate this hypothesis, the exhibition pursues three threads : the use of machines and their language, memory and hence the archive, and lastly the multiplicity of screens as a construction of new mental worlds. - Alongside works by Nam June Paik [KR] and Steina and Woody Vasulka [IS], pioneers of video art, we will find creations by artists utilizing the digital medium such as the artist collective SLIDERS - lab [FR], Maria Barthélémy and René Sultra [FR], and Joost Rekveld [NL]. The show also features other artists, grouped around the Anarchive collection launched and run by Anne-Marie Duguet [FR].
