1922 dans un temps plus long
Résumé
The chapter situates Joyce's Ulysses (1922) in the ongoing practice of the art of the novel. It focuses on how our reading of Joyce's revolutionary modernist achievement, apprehended from our current perspective, in a different century, can inform our reading of other novelists: Henry James, Irène Némirovsky. Or indeed our reading of the form of the novel as an engagement with the ineluctable modality of experience in time, through the constraints of narrative form.
