The study of the Linear Pottery (Rubané) and Villeneuve-Saint-Germain (VSG) bone industry highlights a highly dynamic period, during which two episodes of innovations follow one another in time, resulting in the formation of, first, the Rubané récent du Bassin parisien (RRBP) and, second, of the VSG. In the RRBP, there is a massive influx of elements belonging to the Cadial material culture, which which graft themselves on the traditional Rubané base. The elements endure in the VSG, and are supplemented by new elements, whose origin is yet unidentified. The Rubané final du Bassin parisien (RFBP) seems to stand as an intermediate chronological episode, during which the novelties introduced in the RRBP develop. It is argued here these Paris Basin bone material cultures formed as the result of a continuous evolution of the Rubané, due to a diversity of social interaction between groups.
