The purpose of this work is to investigate some characteristics that in my opinion distinguish the genre of biofiction in Italy and through them try to circumscribe the perimeter of Italian biofiction writings. The thesis will be divided into two parts: in the first one by tracing the European (French, English and Italian, in particular) and U.S. debate, an attempt will be made to identify the main stages that led to the birth of the term biofiction; subsequently, on the basis of this reconnaissance of the available critical literature on the subject, a methodology for approaching the genre will be proposed by identifying some issues and themes characteristic, in my opinion, of biofiction writings. In particular, the categories proposed by historians and historians of microhistory, specifically those of Carlo Ginzburg, and the reflections on narrative elaborated by Adriana Cavarero in Tu che mi guardi tu che mi racconti will be used. The issues that will be addressed will be the following: the dialectic reality and fiction, the function and characterization of the character, his relationship with the narrative voice, and the always ambiguous and controversial dynamic between narrator and author. Finally, attention will be turned to narrative form and structure. In the second part, an attempt will be made to apply the methodological tools identified to a corpus of texts, in my opinion representative of biofiction. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate how the genre of biofiction writings is emerging in the Italian literary scene and how biofiction today represents a means of investigating the great questions and themes of literature.
L'objectif de ce travail est d'étudier certaines caractéristiques qui, à mon avis, distinguent le genre de la biofiction en Italie et, à travers elles, d'essayer de circonscrire le périmètre de l'écriture biofictionnelle italienne. La thèse est divisée en deux parties : dans la première, en retraçant le débat européen (français, anglais et italien, en particulier) et américain, on tentera d'identifier les principales étapes qui ont conduit à la naissance du terme biofiction ; ensuite, sur la base de cette reconnaissance de la littérature critique disponible sur le sujet, on proposera une méthodologie pour aborder le genre, en identifiant certaines questions et certains thèmes qui sont caractéristiques, à mon avis, de l'écriture biofictionnelle. En particulier, nous utiliserons les catégories proposées par les historiens et les historiens de la microhistoire, notamment les études de Carlo Ginzburg, et les réflexions sur la narration élaborées par Adriana Cavarero dans Tu che mi guardi tu che mi racconti. Les questions abordées seront les suivantes : la dialectique réalité-fiction, la fonction et la caractérisation du personnage, sa relation avec la voix narratrice et la dynamique toujours ambiguë et controversée entre le narrateur et l'auteur. Enfin, l'attention se portera sur la forme et la structure du récit. Dans la deuxième partie, cependant, on tentera d'appliquer les outils méthodologiques identifiés à un corpus de textes, à mon avis représentatif de la biofiction. L'objectif de cette thèse est de montrer comment le genre de l’ écriture biofictionnelle s'impose sur la scène littéraire italienne et comment il représente désormais un moyen d'investigation des grandes questions et des grands thèmes de la littérature.
Il presente lavoro ha lo scopo di indagare alcune caratteristiche che a mio avviso contraddistinguono il genere della biofiction in Italia e attraverso di esse provare a circoscrivere il perimetro delle scritture biofizionali italiane. La tesi si articola in due parti: nella prima ripercorrendo il dibattito europeo (francese, inglese e italiano, in particolare) e statunitense, si cercherà di individuare le tappe principali che hanno portato alla nascita del termine biofiction; successivamente, sulla scorta di questa ricognizione della letteratura critica disponibile sul tema, si proporrà una metodologia di approccio al genere individuando alcune questioni e temi caratteristici, a mio avviso, delle scritture biofinzionali. In particolare si utilizzeranno le categorie proposte dagli storici e dalle storiche della microstoria, nello specifico gli studi di Carlo Ginzburg, e le riflessioni sulla narrazione elaborate da Adriana Cavarero in Tu che mi guardi tu che mi racconti. Le questioni che verranno affrontate saranno le seguenti: la dialettica realtà e finzione, la funzione e la caratterizzazione del personaggio, la sua relazione con la voce narrante e la dinamica sempre ambigua e controversa tra narratore e autore. Infine si volgerà l’attenzione alla forma e alla struttura narrativa. Nella seconda parte, invece, si tenterà di applicare gli strumenti metodologici individuati ad un corpus di testi, a mio avviso rappresentativo della biofiction. Lo scopo di questa tesi è di dimostrare come il genere delle scritture biofinzionali si stia imponendo nel panorama letterario italiano e come oggi la biofiction rappresenti un mezzo per indagare le grandi questioni e le grandi tematiche della letteratura.
