Sartre lecteur de Nietzsche

Abstract : Sartre’s famous formula, “nothing in my hands, nothing in my pockets”, reveals the notion of contingency. As every action is creation of the world and of man, the philosopher’s central concern is an ontological as well as an ethical and a political one. Based on Sartrean argumentation, this article provides a chronological overview of Sartre as a reader of Nietzsche and offers an extensive sample of several ways that he differs from his predecessor. We focus on the ambiguity of man’s condition in order to highlight Sartre’s conception of commitment.
